What's the point in having the route creator on the strava app for iPhone and android as my phone is normally in my rear pocket on my jersey so how will I or others see the route? I'm aware of the toppeak mount for the phone but it's so bulky and basicly I see this as a pointless update for strava .... I'm sure il be put straight on this and probably not looked in to it correctly .... Rant over

Because you can upload that route to a Garmin device or similar, which does sit on your bars ?

I ve tried this once so I can't vouch for it but I used it to plot a route from SW London to Farnham at the weekend - somewhere I ve never been there or know whatsoever (this was on the web). I think becasue it could use all the segment details and the hot spots that it plotted a much more bike friendly, and pleasant route, than it would have done otherwise.
It avoided the majority of main roads (but not all I admit) and took me down some really nice ones. Whether this was the google maps cycling router algorithm or something peculiar to Strava ive no idea, but it's safe to say that I 'd have never found such nice roads myself. We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

No but others do and find it useful to create and download routes from Strava. It wasn't designed with just you in mind you see.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -
It's also useful for "claiming" those rides when your device didn't connect to satellites or you ran out of battery. Map the route and add it to your training log - OK no speed/cadence/heartrate but at least you can claim the miles and the metres.0

Create course on Strava, export file, add to courses on your Garmin and away you go. Did I miss something?Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

Main difference is that Strava knows which roads other cyclists use, so you can draw on the hive mind of other strava users.
In theory this should mean that you can avoid dangerous routes that other computer route planners might naively send you down, but in practice there are enough suicidal cyclists going down 70mph dual carriageways and logging it to strava that it makes little difference.0 -
It seems it's quite good to be honest had a good look at it and with my mates garmin seems a good update after all I eat my wordsWhen i die I just hope the wife doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it other wise someone will be getting a mega deal!!!

Eh? I think you may have the wrong end of the stick. There is no route creator on the phone, it's just a way of seeing routes you've created, and others, so it says. Means you can check them out? Share them, I guess, when you are not at home with your computer. You still need a computer to create the routes. Unless I've got that wrong of course!!http://www.fachwen.org
