I'm starting a cycle challenge tomorrow for Breast cancer Campaign. I've got to ride at least 50 miles on 50 consecutive days.
Basically, please wish this 51 yr old, overweight MAMIL the very best of luck

Good luck indeed!
I will follow your progress and keep fingers crossed for good weather0 -
Thanks guys. Two down and a mere 48 to go.
I-phone got wet yesterday so can't post ride from there and Garmin won't connect to my computer so you'll just have to believe me until I sort them out (or somebody more able sorts them out).
Right, I'm off for a err.....50 mile cycle ride.....again!Getting older and wanting to go further

Thanks for that:-)
Unfortunately, my Garmin will no longer connect to my computer so I can't put anything on Strava right now.....possibly a good thing because my average speed on the first three rides has been a tad embarrassing to say the least.

I'm full of cold, got a jippy stomach and am about to head out into what can best be described as a "moist" Northumberland. I'll take any kudos I can get:-)Getting older and wanting to go further

50 miles a day for 50 days?! wow, that's some challenge! Hope it goes well for you.0

Hi Diz,
Good luck with the challenge, it will certainly test your determination, but its for a worthy cause! I see now why you have a dislike for your Garmin.
Keep spinning those cranks.0 -
It's driving me utterly bonkers! I have the first five rides recorded on the wretched Garmin but try as I may, PCs will no longer recognise it. So frustrating but hey, I've done a 10th of the challenge and two Americans gave me £2 while I was out today. It's all worthwhile:-)Getting older and wanting to go further

Dude, that's amazing! Some pretty hard rides there too, the likes of up to Parkhead and back. Much respect.0

And you're still getting PBs on some segments -that is superb ...
I wonder if road.cc will pick up on this?0 -
05 July 14 will be the longest and hardest day of the lot......"Hell of the North" cycling 50 miles through Newcastle upon Tyne.
I'd be delighted to have some company on the day to keep me sane as I'm shunted from red light to red light. Should be interesting

haha sounds awesome. Although I have to say, picking the same day as the Tour de France runs through Yorkshire probably wasn't the best idea if you wanted other cyclists to join you. If I'm out that day I'll be heading south, as much as joining you would be a lot of fun.0 -
I chose the date deliberately just to contrast the futility of cycling through the city on the same day as the greatest celebration of cycling in the world hits our shores.
It's supposed to be ironic but on reflection, I think it was plain stupid :oops:Getting older and wanting to go further

Day 45 of 50 looks really cool on Strava:-)
On Saturday afternoon, I'll dismount and, for the first time in seven weeks be able to think to myself......."you don't have to cycle 50 miles tomorrow".
That will feel very, very good indeed.
Sure to do a quick 20 though:-)

Yup, but I can go as far or as short as I want. 20 miles with my boy I think, just to stretch:-)
