Charge Scoop saddle did not work out for me at all

I bought a charge scoop saddle about 3 weeks ago after reading a lot of positive words about them and the asking price was great. Normally I use a selle flite and I just thought Id try something a bit more modern looking. When I got the scoop I thought it looked lovely and was very well made. The first 20 miles of the first outing on it were bliss but then really serious numbing of the bum started . Im the type of rider who likes saddles to be flat and cant abide it when the rear of a saddle flicks up and feels like its pushing me forward. I always use the wooden board and a spirit level to get my saddles perfectly flat and I experimented with the scoop by ever so slightly raising and lowering, but with the same bum numbing results every time which had me out of the saddle quite a lot to increase circulation to the arrse area.

The scoop turned out to be a big disappointment in that after about 8 rides and endless tweaking you could have struck a match and put it on my bumcheeks without me even noticing because of the severity of the numbness. Those old leather saddles which you can ride all day without any problems whatsoever seem to be where my bum is at and the old flite is back on the bike. I gave the scoop to another rider and I wait with interest to see how he gets on with it, anybody else have any similar issues with the scoop saddle ?

Early days for me as I only fitted the Scoop on Saturday, 69 miles on Sunday and a 45 min turbo session tonight and all seems ok so far, was on the standard Boardman road saddle prior.

If you were using a Boardman saddle already then even sitting on the seatpost would have been an improvement. Great bikes but their saddles are shockingly bad, a really cheap component on an otherwise quality package. One man's meat and all that, but I genuinely found mine to be unusable.

It's a very personal thing. I've swapped the saddles on my other two bikes but the Boardman's has stayed on. It was uncomfortable at first but after three years and 6000 miles I'm used to it.

NO. Doesn't work for everyone, myself included.

I have a Charge spoon on my MTB. I find it a bit narrow. Although I do have a large behind!
Bikes are OK, I guess... :-)

My experience differs - the Boardman saddles are the most comfortable I ever tried - and I tried alot. When I bought my Boardman, I had already bought am expensive specialized saddle and had a spare Charge Spoon (as I loved this on my MTB) and one of those was destined to go on it - but I thought I would try the Boardman one first. since then I have bought two more Boardman saddles on ebay for about a fiver and have done 100+ mile rides and week long tours on it without the slightest ache or problem... I think it just depends whether the shape fits your rear and no one is universally better or worse than another.

I find it incredibly amusing when people are surprised that things like saddles and shoes just aren't right for them.
