He did 190 miles over 2 days with over 11,000 of climbing and only fell into one hedge while making the national - and probably international via forums - news. Now that's cool.

I quite agree. And he did it with a smile, which is always nice.

I did a 415 mile ride with over 27,000ft of climbing this weekend. Am I allowed to laugh? :P

No. You just have a rather large ego. Which in itself is quite funny.

Well then it's a good thing that my id is just as defined.

Nice of you to stick up for another sportive rider though. I hear there are rough times ahead... :P

It must be nice riding sportives knowing you're safe riding along in the knowledge that all of the people riding have basic bike handling skills

He's got his support car behind with 2 spare bikes, so all's good.

I hope the fella is reading this thread and laughing along with the rest of us. If it was me I'd find it funny.

True! ...although I reckon a lot more sportive riders safely bounce off the road than triathletes.

Think of the millions of people who had previously never seen a VISA logo. Yes, this big-boned amateur has shown the pro peloton a far, far easier way to please their sponsors. No more will a rider from a lowly pro continental team need to embark on a pointless 100km solo breakaway. No, just ride along with the bunch and, when you've picked the most opportune moment, crash your bike in the most comical manner possible.
