right then

i was knocked off my bike 6 weeks ago on tuesday just gone, i broke my clavicle into 3 peices and have to have ORIF surgery to plate it all back together, So after some physio ive got nearly full ROM say 90% although ive got pretty much no strength in it at all, so my bikes in the shop being fixed and i should have it back by midweek and i was thinking about getting back on it.

so my question is am i rushing into getting back on the bike or should i leave it for a few more weeks maybe have some more physio,

thanks alot for any help or advice

It was nearer six months for me with similar sounding injuries before I was riding again. Then I came off again (on ice) & was out for a further three months. :( ymmv

I waited three months when I broke mine.

Wiggo was back on the bike within two weeks, but he's paid to ride bikes and had a metal plate fitted.

Yup 12 weeks for me after breaking clavicle. I could've come back sooner, but it coincided nicely with an 'eat what you like' Christmas. Then my wife gave me a trip to ride La Marmotte on Christmas Day and I started to panic!

Broken finger took much longer to heal than my clavicle, but I was lucky, no metal.

had a similar injury with the surgey and metal work fitted but also broke my shoulder blade in 3 places as well.

I was back in the saddle after 12 weeks but it took a good 6 months to get things closer to normal...still not 100% now strength wise.

NHS didnt want me to start physio until 12 weeks but I went private after 8 weeks as I wanted to crack on, this definately helped.

I found the collar bone was fine as soon the metal work was done, before that my shoulder was about 10cm lower!

If the "broken bone" pain has gone I would crack on and get in the saddle, but take it easy especially on rough roads.

yeah its not really hurt since i had it plated, its just aching now i managed half hour on the rollers, it wasnt pain that made me get off them more boredom ill have a word with the doc on tuesday and see what he has to say, but looking at the forecast the weather looks like its gonna turn pants again,
