Got myself the minoura double water bottle cage mount / holder that bolts under the saddle and got a couple of cheap plastic cages. Both of the plastic cages broke during the first ride.

Any suggestions for a decent cage that is robust enough to hang out the back with full 800ml bottles?

Erm, why do this for sportives? Is the frame not big enough for carrying drinks between stops?

To answer the question though, I've found Elite Sior to be the most tenacious bottle carriers I've used. Too tenacious with some bottles in fact, but tis only a good thing for behind the saddle.

Do you want some long socks and a sleeveless top to go with it?

Simple, I am a big fat sweaty jafa with 107 miles to do across Dartmoor in June. I just didn't fancy having a camelbak on for 9 hours. Already got 2 bottles on the frame. Thanks for the suggestion.

No doubt hilarious but lost on me.

Best to get the cheap basic metal cages that can be bent a bit to grip the bottles tighter, something like this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-alloy-bottle-cage/ should do. Keep an eye on them though, they'll be fine for occasional rides but might start to fall apart after a while...

There are two drink stops on dartmoor sportive... So unless its a flukey great weather day (not for the past 3 years ive done it) one can survive by downing a drink before set off and plenty of fluid at breakfast. Then Drink two bottles to the first stop. Down another drink and fill up both,... And youll be back there for more and repeat after few hours.. Last year mind i got hammered the night before so struggled a bit on the moisture front :). If sunny then taking one more in your jersey maybe worth it
