Hi, does anyone on here use any of these units?
I'm thinking of buying one and wondered if anyone had any feedback on them
Regards
Jeff

I have the 505. I like it. It is simple to use but on the odd occasion chooses some questionable routes. It once tried to send me the wrong way down a slip road onto the A6 dual carriage way. And another time through a muddy track by a field. I did make sure I updated the relevant sections on open street maps (or whatever it uses) but have not had any updates upload to the mio since then so I guess it would still make the same mistakes. On a couple of occasions it has not alerted me to an upcoming turn believing the road to just continue. Again these are probably more map errors than the mio itself. It's not a great problem though as I ride on my own and don't care if I have to turn back.
The initial update did take some time to complete as it had to download about 6GB.
I love the surprise me function that will generate some random routes of a specified distance. It has helped me discover new roads I had never considered taking before.
There are plenty of data fields to choose from and a few screen layouts too. Wifi sync to mio share and on to strava straight from the unit works brilliantly. I can't compare it to a garmin edge but it's much easier than my garmin forerunner ever was with its random locking up.
I paid about £230 at halford a few months back without the HR strap or sensors.
Even with the odd routing issues I am still happy with it and would get another.0 -
Nice one, im looking at one with HR strap, sensors and a free, thrown in, out front mount for £2500

I've a 305HC and it's great apart from a couple of things - screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight and no WiFi. Looks like both these are sorted with the 505 so I don't think you'd be disappointed.
One word of warning which I guess will apply to the 505 is that Mac support is a bit flaky to say the least. For updates and access to the MioShare web site, I access through Windows using Parallels with IE. Firefox and Chrome don't seem reliable.0 -
I have a 305 with the cadence and HR sensors, I've never had a Garmin or any other so whilst I can't compare I can say that the Mio is everything I need as a leisure/sportive rider and it's dead simple to use.
I agree that the screen is a tad difficult to read in the sunlight but other than that it's a great piece of kit and excellent value for money, I paid £149 for the 305. I would cerrtainly buy a Mio device again, which I suppose is the litmus test.0 -
I'm looking at the Mio Cyclo 505 and currently have the Garmin 500, I kike the look of the navigation on the Mio.
Where's the best site for a deal?0 -
