Pretty sure the spindle won't be long enough. You can fit a BB386EVO crank in almost any frame, but not vice versa.

No - BB spindle isn't long enough as it's only 68mm and it wouldn't protrude out the BB shell which is 68mm wide - clue is in the name, BB386 uses a 30mm diameter spindle which is 86mm long, so technically should be called BB3086 8)

bit confused though still as alot of sram chainsets which are on sale state they work with bb386 and that the shaft is longer ????? a spacer is used with bb30 ??

i will most likely go to gxp and adaptor as the bb386 chainsets are silly money

Almost certain Rotor 3DF/S would be compatible.

I have a BB86 and converted from a 24mm Shimano BB to a Rotor 4130 which allowed me to fit the Rotor 3DF. Its a 30mm spindle and the width allows 86mm, using spacers to fit to narrower widths.

A BB30 chainset is designed to work with a 68mm shell with the bearings mounted inboard.
A BB386 chainset is designed to work with a 68mm shell but the bearings are mounted outboard i.e. the crank spindle is 18-20mm longer. If you tried to fit a BB30 crank to a BB386 the spindle wouldn't be long enough to allow you to fit the non-drive crank.

Quick up date , sram force 22 bb30 chainset arrived today , it does fit bb386 , it uses spacers to fit std bb30 so will fit my Kuota Kiral when it arrives :D
It is a total of around 26mm longer than std bb30 spindle.

    So you've bought a SRAM Force BB386 crank then, not a BB30? :?

Advertised as bb30 no mention of bb386 in manuals on box or anywhere on line hence my question and questioning

if you don't believe me try finding details on line .

reason i bought sram force 22 chainset it was £98 on Amazon , price slip up( one still at £127)this was before i bought the kuota with 386 and it was going to go on a cannondale .

Looks like you got lucky, a quick google suggests that the force 22 bb30 is actually a 386, which your measurment confirms, all the different manufacturers have their own name for the same thing, 386evo / over torque / 3d+ etc.

On my oltre which is BB386 with a 50/34 chorus crank set, and my Infinito which has an ultra torque cup set with a chorus 52/36 crankset. Does this mean the crank set's are not interchangable between the two bike's.

Chorus cranks only come in one flavour - Ultratorque and your frames have the appropriate adaptor cups fitted - simply unscrew the 10mm hex key that secures the split shaft, slide-out and refit.
