I have a 2013 Pinnacle Ramin 5. The forks are Rockshox Reba solo air. I weigh approx. 215 lbs. I've tried varying the pressures, but even when up at 140psi I keep bottoming out quite violently even on just fast undulating dips. At this pressure, the ride is very harsh indeed. I did not notice this problem on my Genesis Core 50 with Rockshox Recon Gold. Could it be a faulty fork? Or is this to be expected from this fork? Can the Solo Air be converted from 100mm to 120mm travel?
If no solution, can anyone suggest suitable forks for this bike? Thanks!

So harsh on small bumps, but blows through travel on medium bumps?
  • Definitely doesn't seem right. I have the 100mm 2013 solo air model Reba's and weigh approx 200lbs with all my gear on, I'm running mine around 110psi and it never bottoms out although does use pretty much all of the travel (red trails at Swinley forest). Could it be leaking air somehow? Sorry I'm not a suspension expert and don't have a solution but they definitely should perform better than that. I wouldn't have thought you can increase the travel (and probably shouldn't need to if they were functioning correctly), but as I say I'm no expert and can only comment on how mine and my friends Reba's perform. Hope you get it sorted soon though as in my opinion they are fantastic forks.

220lbs and no issues with bottoming out. Are you doing BMX type stuff ?
