Pain in the right hand side of my abdomen?

I first felt this last summer about 10miles into an 80mile ride. It felt like a bad stitch or trapped wind pain and affected my breathing as i had to shallow breathe so it didn't hurt as much. It doesn't happen all the time so i can't pin point thhe problem but when it does it's always about 10miles in. If it's bad, then when i take a deep breath for about 3 days after, i can still feel the pain(as if something is bruised). I've got a tough sportive coming up in May so would like to get this sorted before then. I am trying different things on rides around the idea it may be one of these problems. Under hydrated; eating to much;not eating enough;to big a meal the night before.
I usually have a bowl of porridge and honey an hour before a long ride and sometimes a banana. Up to 30miles i just take water. 70mile with about 1400m ascent i take a carb drink and an electrolyte drink with a spare sachet of each a couple of bananas and usually have a caramel shortbread or similar.

I'd see a doctor just in case. The appendix is in the right lower abdomen, if effort and movement is irritating it you want to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Go and ask your doctor. You might get someone on here who might speculate, but it would be of no value: it might put your mind at rest when actually there is something adrift, or it might make you worry when there's nothing wrong. The same might happen if you go the a doctor, but at least he'll have seen you in the flesh, so is in with a better chance of guessing correctly.

Its only happened around 7-8 times in about 18 months of cycling and i've always been to the toilet before its happened. Probably will go to docs just thought a few people might pop up who'd had the same problem.
  • This used to happen to me if I ate a banana. I love 'em but they don't like me.
