Probably the easiest "where am I?" ever.

But it's a nice picture.
And I wore shorts for the first time this year in the UK.
And there was no traffic.
And it's right near my house.

So I like it.......

But I am happy for it to turn into a list of OCD bike photograph mistakes. I can see at least six myself.

  • Ok no idea where but
1/ Bike the wrong way around (driveside should be facing camera)
    2/Cranks in wrong position
    3/Bottle in cage
    4/Seat bag
    5/Stem not slammed
    6/Valves not aligned
7/No white garage door as a backdrop
8/SPD pedals (not 100% sure on that one?)
9/Fork legs and seatstays have been in an accident.
    10/Dork Disc

I won't go for the easy low blow of 'It's a Specialized'

Alum Bay with Hurst Spit just over The Solent in the distance. Great weather yesterday and this morning. I was just over the water in Southsea.

Sorry, 10. above is disallowed. No dork disc, just a 34.
Single sided SPD's are a marginal "yes".

Ok, it was all tongue in cheek and you did propose an OCP shakedown! 34 is a serious low gear, take it it's a compact chainset. IOW is hilly, I did the Randonneur last Summer, and it was lovely, great weather too.

No apology necessary, I understood the spirit of your reply. I guess mine needed a smiley. :D

Yes, it is a compact. We do have some hilly stuff and I am an old grumpy so when I started I needed the 34. I am weening myself off it. Haven't used it at all recently on the island, but on the over 10% stuff I have to admit to using the next one down! which is 30. My plan for this spring is to get stronger and then switch to an 11-28.

I did use the 34 last weekend though when I hit a hill that maxed at 31%! I was standing up, almost spinning the back wheel and I really wanted to change down but I was worried about falling off.

Called the Bellevue Beast I understand. Of course it was much steeper in real life.

I drove it the next day in my car. Couldn't get up in second gear!

Did it quite by accident. We wanted a short ride as a warm up a day or so before our big event. Took a wrong turn on leaving the guest house and there it was.

Rule five applied so we had a go. Quite enjoyed it really, despite hitting a few beats near to MHR within two minutes of starting our ride.

Fortunately we had this flat bit to recover on afterwards.

Then I read that getting up to a high heart rare for a short period is perfect preparation the day before a race.

    I am clearly a natural pro. :D

Well call me a girlie and Cancellara on the cusp. As he recently tweeted "What a final ramp It was 25% writen but i guess it was much more... My gears 34x28was not enough. Next time i will walk.so im faster up;-))"

With many pros yesterday in Italy on 32's I think the occasional 34 for those hills over 25% is just fine for me until I get stronger. When I started riding last year I used it all the time on 10% hills, so it's just a matter of time before it is history.

Until I turn pro of course now the precedent has been established. :D

The Somerset Levels? There seems to be a lot of wet stuff.
