Do I Need a New Tyre?

I was riding a week back and heard a weird sound coming from my front mudguard. Maybe a stone got caught between it and the tyre, or the guard may have come off-center and rubbed against the tyre. Whatever it was I pulled over, rejigged the guard and stopped the noise.

There is, however, a perfectly straight groove left in part of the tyre:

As far as I can tell this hasn't gone through the tyre; the tyre remains unpunctured. Do I need a new tyre?

I wouldn't get a new one unless it had gone through to the canvas layer.

Looks ok to me. keep an eye on it and liek the previous poster said if you start to see the next layer or tube then swap it.
