Just logged in for the first time in a year to congratulate a guy who has just started commuting by bike.

Checked my profile and apparently I joined this forum on 6 Feb 2003 - that's just over 11 years ago - about the time I started commuting by bike...and had just bought a trek 5500 frame kitted out with a DA groupset etc. (This was when Lance was a drug free hero...)

Since then I've covered something like 40-45,000 miles as well as having 2 children!! 10,25,50,100 and 12 hr TT's, a triple and a deca ironman tri later and I'm still loving my bike!

Cycling has become a way of life....and this forum is where that addiction took hold.

Have fun and stay safe out there.

    Cheers all.

No, even bigger Ted now! Weigh more now than ever, but lets call that middle aged spread...

Think it's probably nearer 50k than 40k but hell, who cares?

All I know is you can't buy happiness. But you can buy a bicycle. And that's pretty close.

(Though I have spent a lot on happiness over the years.... )

  • Nice one Ted. There is a lot of cynical old buggers on here, so it's good to hear this. More power to your pedals and the next 11 years (and maybe expanding waistline!) Chapeau.

Cheers BBG. Judging by your sig you wouldn't like my bikes..mostly Triples....:D

To be honest, its a way of life now, don't think I'll ever not be a cyclist.
