Shimano 8-speed cassettes - MTB vs Road

Need a new cassette for my old Sirrus, 8 speed

Is there any difference between the two types of Shimano cassette, other than numbers of teeth? Want a slightly wider range than before, so might need an MTB rather than road cassette - are they the same spacing, etc? Will be getting a new chain and rear gear should be fine.

    There's no difference in lateral spacing, no.
    Just be aware of the maximum capacity of your derailleur when ordering.
