Joe's no flat tubeless strips

Hi everyone,
Im trying to use a joes no flats tubeless kit but im having trouble with the valve strips. I have an alex SX44 and Mavic XM319 rim both internally measuring about 18mm wide. I have the 17-19mm kit.
My problem is that the strips seem too wide, im unable to tuck all of the strip below the bead lock area, the instructions say it can stick up 1mm above but when i inflate the tyres (nobby nic evo tubeless ready) they do not snap onto the rim and when the air is out they look the same as when starting so dont see how i can insert the sealant.
Sorry for the essay, fingers crossed someone will have an answer for me so i can get back out and riding.

I think ive sorted it, they are now inflated and holding pressure. Is it normal to be able to see small bits of the rim strip on the outside of the rim/tyre?0

I had similar issues and discovered that's why Joe's strips are half the price of Stan's! Stan's strips are molded and fit perfectly on the rim of my 26" wheelset. The Joe's strips that I got for my other 26" wheelset and also my 29er are plain flat and wide. I used a Stanley knife and a metre length metal ruler and trimmed the Joe's strips by about 2mm on each side. They work fine, now.0
