Ferries from Barcelona to Mallorca

I apologise if this is the wrong place, but it's possible someone will know the answer.
I'm going to Mallorca (with bike) by car next Spring. I know most people fly, but I don't like it these days.
I have booked the Balearia ferry from Barcelona, but I have to pick up the boarding card at the docks. I'm led to understand that this is very difficult and frustrating - including just finding the office.
Has anyone any experience of this please?

My Brother-in-law used to drive a lorry from uk to mallorca every 10 days or so and used the port of Barcellona each time , he never spoke of any problems there and used to book a short notice each way .0
