Garmin Connect and Strava

People,

Before i replaced my Garmin 200 with a 510 i uploaded all my rides to the Garmin Connect site on my laptop.

I would now like to upload these to a newly set up Strava account.

Does anyone know how i would do this? I am a bit of a technophobe.

I get to the upload activities page on the strava site where i obviously cant use the From Garmin tab but surely i could use the From File tab? It says it will only work for single .tcx, .fit or .gpx files.

It seems the Garmin Connect files aren't of this type.

Thanks

you can download each ride from Garmin Connect - save the GPX file and then upload to Strava from that file.

    Bit long winded though ...
  • I think you will have to open each ride and export the activity, there doesn't appear to be a way to export a number of files in one go. You can export as a .tcx, .gpx or .kml (google earth) file and save to your computer. Save all the ones you want as either .tcx or .gpx and load them manually to Strava.

In future, to prevent this on the next Strava-like site, just save all your activities to a folder on your computer as .fit files. Then you can upload them as and when you want.

you could send them all to your garmin device (if you go into the activity in garmin connect its one of the options above the map). you'd need to do this for each but then should be able to load them all in one go to strava.

For me, all my garmin files are stored locally on my hard drive then they get moved to garmin connect. This is done automatically, so I'd imagine that all your previous data files are also stored on your hard drive. If you can find them, it's a simple matter to then mass import them to strava.

I'm away from my PC so am not sure where they are stored. I'm sure someone will be along to correct me or point you in the right direction, if not I'll post the location later.
  • this is what you need to do

  • Also worth a look https://tapiriik.com/
  • Thanks all. That's all the info sent to strava via the linked website.

Seeing as this might get my competitive juices going, is there a way of seeing where if i am nearer the top of any of the ratings without clicking on every ride?

Link that to your Strava and all your segment scores are listed in order from highest to lowest.
