Afternoon all,

I have a Marin hybrid (Highway One), converted to drop bars that I bought second hand - it's getting serious use now, and needs replacement brake pads.

Additionally my gf's Tri cross sport needs brake pads too.

As far as I am aware they both use Cantilever brakes - I have pictures but haven't managed to upload them yet.

I want to buy some other bits from allterraincycles, and so want to use these, and a lock, to get the order over £50 for free postage.

These are the 3 I think might do the job, but wondered if anyone can confirm...?

  • Difficult to say without seeing the brake units themselves. Pics 1 & 3 are typical for older canti brake setups but newer ones use the pads like your second picture.

Given the age of the tricross I'd expect it to use the second of your 3 but the easiest way is to take out the existing pads and then do a visual match. From past experience LBS prices for replacement pads are not usually much different to online prices.

Thanks for your reply - do these pics help people at all?

The first 2 are of my 2005 Marin (Avid's), the last one is of the 2010 Tri cross sport.

I take your point on the cost of them in the LBS, I'm just trying to do this to bypass a delivery charge.
