All Tour of Spain tests negative.

Vuelta tour director Javier Guillen has announced that all 598 blood and urine tests taken at this years Vuelta were negative.American Chris Horner won the tour aged 41 and was thought by many to have taken drugs to win the event.

    Is that a high, medium or low number of tests for a grand tour? It sounds like a lot but would only be 2 or 3 per rider but a lot I imagine dont get tested do they.
  • Its less than the Tour this year (622 IC and OOC) but higher than the Tour's number last year (566)

    so either the sport is getting cleaner, or they are learning how to manage the results better, or maybe a little bit of both
  • What they dont tell you is all those samples came from spectators Javier Guillen can't understand how they are keeping up with supercharged riders on the steep climbs

    Don't they just test the last 30 or so riders across the line in the Vuelta, rather than the other way round? :wink:

    Very difficult to catch someone when a microdose of EPO taken at 10pm has stopped glowing by 7am the next morning.
