Evening

I have just brought a new bike PX pro Carbon, this is however the first bike I have had with a compact?

is there an optimum position on the pedal stroke when changing up and down to make it as smooth as possible. as sometimes it changes fine and smooth and other feels like it fell into place?

or is this just what you have to deal with when using a compact

IME compact or standard shouldn't be any difference in smoothness, as long as you keep pedalling it should change OK.

The bigger the difference in chainring sizes, then the 'clunkier' the shift IME - try and keep your pedalling smooth and soft - don't stomp on the pedals - as you shift
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
