Bars higher than other bike?
Harsher frame jolting your back?

Could be many, many things as I'm sure you know :P

Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred

I have no idea what's going on here.

Have you reaaaaally got the bike fit correct between the two bikes? (do you know all the ways to take measurements, how to take into account different saddle sweetspots etc.. it's always easier when the same bars and same saddle are on both bikes) ...and is the bike fit even correct in the first place?

how about going out on your summer bike one last time. If the pain re-occurs then it might not be the bike fit for your winter bike but something else.

Try lowering your saddle a bit, high saddle is a common cause of back pain.

Possibly weak core muscles and poor flexibility - increasing strength in your quads and glutes, combined with tight hamstrings is possibly putting more stress on your pelvis and lumbar region. Getting yourself down the gym and doing a structured regime of exercise and stretches will pay more dividends that a bike fit. I'm finding as I get older, I have to work harder on my conditioning and cannot just rely on riding the bike.

plus 1 for core strength conditioning. i had back pain when i started riding but this sorted itself. then i had an off a few months ago and spent lots of time off my bike and generally sitting around. when i resumed riding, back pain returned and again took a few days to clear

but there could be a more serious underlying issue. is a visit to GP and referral for some tests not out of the question?
