Best groupset at about £500-600?

I've got a new frameset and am looking to put on a groupset for about 500-600 quid. I'm thinking ultegra 175mm 50/34 & 11/28 (best I can find is 575 at ribble but the bb is out of stock), but am really baffled by all the alternatives. Any advice (as well as a good buying source) will be gratefully appreciated. Alternatively if anyone is looking to offload a good second hand set, then I'd consider that too.
Cheers
Mike

Thanks. Anyone got a strong opinion if other manufacturers make as good or better then ultegra for that price?0

Eveyone's raving about the new Ultegra 11 speed. I go with that. As already said make sure your wheels are OK for 11, I think all mavic have been for ages but you'll need to check other makes.0

Really is down to your own preference in how to shift gears.
Athena from Campagnolo is also about £600 and is a nice 11 speed group. Force from SRAM is probably too much as it is about £760 at the moment and unlikely to come down too much. Ultegra 11 speed getting very good reviews if you like Shimano shifting.0 -
I've serviced quite a few Sram Force and Red bikes and my opinion is that Shimano Ultegra and Dura Ace is better.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

IMO it comes down to preference of hood shape and aesthetics...Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

if using merlin, sign up to qudico and go via quidco fo a couple of % cashback.
all groupsets are decent, its down to personal preference...I have no experience of shimano but have owned very set of SRAM and there is very little difference between the SRAM sets apart from the price difference...which can be massive!0 -
Good timing,
i was about to order from Starbikes in Germany for an extra £10.

Torn between Ultegra 6800 which you can get for under £600 on Ebay (Total Cycling) and Force 22.
Any reviews or opinions on the Force 22, is it worth the extra £160 if you were to get either from Merlin ?25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0 -

If they don't have a clamp on FD you can always go for the braze on mech and buy a clamp-on mount for it (My Racelight Tk came with this arrangement but I never really noticed till I was stripping it down)0 -
Campagnolo Athena 11 speed. I think the hood shape on those is perfect.
I sold one this week for less than £600 so others must be able to as well.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -

Merlin linked me to one of those, however, its shiney! http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/r ... clamp.html
Would look rubbish on a carbon frame.
Seen the Di2 version, would that still work? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-ultegra ... 5360449248

Stick with what you got and save another £250 and get a Di2. Swap and mix with a new chain until you buy Dura ace front and all Utlegra rest. Doesn't really matter as you'll never miss or index a gear again.Chinese All Carbon Hybrid, mixed with overdraft and research.

But the bike will look shite with a brick attached to the seat tube and rear hanger, plus the bike might not be Di2 compatible and you'll have to stick the cables to the down tube.0 -
I have cables and never miss a gear change. The arguement for Di2 should not be on never missing a gear change, that is what proper set up is for. If you do not know how learn! The argument for Di2 is to have the latest tech or if you are racing to have lightening fast gear changes although mechanical gear chnage is pretty quick.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

I'm that freaking awesome I can drop anyone with my sturmey archer hub gears on my Raleigh Denim. You should see what I can do in a Campagnolo equipped racer!Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching
