Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my aluminium Trek 1.5 which was my first road bike and has served me well but I feel the time has come to upgrade it. I'm looking to do some sportives next year as well as extending my ride distances and building up my general fitness and speed on a bike. I have a budget of about £1800 and was looking at a few different options, so far mainly a Felt Z4, options from Ribble and Trek Domane 4.3 the latter of which I have test ridden.

This week however I spotted the Giant reduced from £2750 down to £1850 with full ultegra and Di2. The reviews i have read suggest it is an excellent bike and would fit my purpose and to my limited knowledge it seems to have great spec for the money.

If you could offer your opinions on the quality and value of this bike then I would really appreciate it :)

That's not a deal, it's the sale of the century!
    I'd love that bike...

  • Manganese rails? Seriously...

Anyway, it looks just like my 2012 Tiagra Defy 3 Comp.

(If I take my reading glasses off).

    PS... Nice :)
    Is the gorilla tired yet?
  • That looks like a resounding yes from you both then :)

Just out of interest Vandiesel I see you have a composite 3, how do you find it for comfort on longer rides? Unfortunately I'm not in a position to test ride the bike which is my only slight concern, but I know many people buy online without test riding and the shop I will get it from have an excellent returns policy which does give some peace of mind.
  • Manganese rails? They don't mean much to me lol

You won't be disappointed at all. If you live anywhere near kent your welcome to take it out for a ride mate.
    Good luck

  • Thanks Andy that's really generous of you, unfortunately I couldn't live much further away from Kent, at least in England anyway, as I'm all the way up north in Newcastle! But I'm reassured that you find 50+ mile rides no problem, so I think I'll be sticking my order in tomorrow.

    Cheers

  • The bike arrived on Thursday although I still haven't been out on it yet as I haven't had a chance to pick up some pedals but I'll be popping to Evans after work tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing how it compares to my old alloy Trek :)

If you want to have a look I have posted a pic in the Your Road Bikes section under the thread Show Us Your Giants
