Any interest in this? Looks like it could potentially be a consolation for J-Rod:

Is there any coverage of it?

2nd year this race is back after a couple of years of absence. Raced since 1876 - older than any other classic as far as I know.

pretty good startlist. No Cannondale, bizarrely

Yeah but the Tour of Piemonte was cancelled so nice its back but once again cycling is having a hard time.

After an hour Jay Robert Thomson (MTN Qhubeka) and Bjorn Thurau (Europcar) about 4 mins ahead of the peloton led by Movistar.
Pretty fast tempo so far, 50.9 km/hr.

Given that there's a chance some people might be holding out to watch the highlights I've added spoiler to the title.

I would also add that we have signed with RCS Sport extending for one year the agreement that allows us to organize the Milan-Turin: we can already so get to work on the 2015 edition, a special edition because it will fall in the year of Expo 2015 Milan and Turin European Capital of Sport 2015

After 138 km, the front two are still 5-05 ahead, and Saxo are now leading the peloton.
The gap did get as large as 7-40 (at 103 kms).

The break gap at 2pm (5-05) rapidly dropped over the following 40 mins, and 10 mins ago first Thomson then Thurau were absorbed by the peloton, led by Bardiani.

Kristijan Durasek (Lampre Merida) and Edoardo Zardini (Bardiani CSF) then went ahead by about 20 secs, to be joined by Rafal Majka (Saxo Tinkoff) and Josè Pimenta (NetApp Endura).
But Ag2R and Europcar brought them back.
So peloton sort of all together now, i.e. in several groups very slightly apart.

Yeh, Ulissi wins. It sounded very exciting towards the end. At 1.5 km to go Ulissi was about 15 secs back from the front 3 of Pellizotti, Majka and Pozzovivo. And as they got towards the end, Contador, Valverde and Moreno then all appeared too, but too late.

1 ULISSI Diego (Lampre - Merida)
    2 MAJKA Rafal (Team Saxo-Tinkoff)
3 MORENO FERNáNDEZ Daniel (Katusha Team)
4 POZZOVIVO Domenico (AG2R La Mondale)
5 CONTADOR VELASCO Alberto (Team Saxo-Tinkoff)
6 VALVERDE BELMONTE Alejandro (Movistar Team)
    7 FINETTO Mauro (Vini Fantini)
    8 VOECKLER Thomas (Team Europcar)
    9 RABOTTINI Matteo (Vini Fantini)
10 PELLIZOTTI Franco (Androni - Venezuela)
  • Just watched it. Great race. Tommy "The Tongue" on the attack on the first ascent. (and there at the end)
One attack after another on the final ascent. Valverde looked strong, so too did Pellizotti.
The decisive move was made by Pozzovivo and Makja.
They were joined by Ulissi and the 3 worked to stay away, but along came Danni Moreno, powering up the final km.
Also trying to bridge, late, was a grimacing Contador.
At that moment Ulissi launched his sprint and left the rest in his wake.

Cheers, looks like a parcours that encourages exciting finishes. Would be good to see this on Eurosport, can't believe Lombardia only gets highlights too.

I see even RAI are mucking around for Sunday's coverage - it starts on Sport 2 at 12:55, continues until 15:00, breaks until 15:40 then goes on until 17:00
    On RAI3 it's on 14:05 : 16:30
    At least they've a decent post-live program that night : 23:10 - 0040

Well that's rubbish. It's a monument for god's sake. I'll just have to watch it on RAI and pretend I know what they're talking about.

I ride up to the superga as a training run when I'm in Turin. It is short, but very steep. It is 650 meters climbing over 4.9km.
