Hey folks. ive nearly finished my accreditation at glasgow( doing the 4th level on thu). Im finding that im struggling towards the end of the session(it was 2hrs including an australian(?) pursuit)..I do a fair amount of cycling during the week, usually 2x20ml rides and probably some mountain biking at the weekends. Is there any track specific exercise's i can do or basically do i need more time in the pedals? :?

  • It's likely the intensity that's causing the bother towards the end of a session. If you add up all the time above threshold during a two hour track session, you'll see that it's much more than you're used to riding on the road. So it's probably best to introduce some shorter intervals into your road rides, next time you ride at the track take a mental note of which efforts make you feel the worst. Unfortunately, these are probably the efforts you'll need to replicate elsewhere.
You need to make sure you dedicate plenty of time to your aerobic riding though, so don't just do intervals. If you've not done them before try one session a week at first, allowing time to recover.
