I was out today and called in to mac ds for a toffee muffin mid ride, (very reasonable on price) there were a group of young men in full "PRO" outfits with some verrrrrrry expensive bikes out side, they were extolling their prowess and recapping their latest rides and average speeds, when i was back on the saddle just turning the wheels as you do, when i got to thinking about some of their distances and times, i came to the conclusion that they where not telling the truth  . i was just wondering how many times that YOU where a little over zealous with the facts or do you know someone who is a lying B
d.

Or if it is on any of the above it might not have happened according to some KOM segments etc mentioned on here. :)

So someone younger and fitter than you with good bikes and kit must be lying about being able to do higher speeds?
  • You've given no facts in this post so we have nothing to go on.

It would be good to know your stats regarding average distance and your speed and then theirs. I suspect you are querying t as they ride longer and faster. I imagine if they have all the kit they might take it seriously and are quite good. As I said earlier though without the facts who knows.

I think in the modern world with Strava, Map My Ride and Garmin Connect to name a few it would be pointless to make false claims as anyone you speak cycling too probably has access to your stats. Or they'd know your ability by riding with you. If someone doesn't have any proof of their claims then, yes take them with a pinch of salt.
  • Is it Andy Schleck?
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

i would bet that if there had been a mac d on the tour a certain chris someone or other (i think he won it) would have nipped in for a muffin or 2

I am sure nearly every one can ride longer and faster than me (even hedge hogs on mtbs) iam just saying that we all get carried away with our stories of epic rides and out sprinting grayhounds, my claim to fame is to overtake a pigion as it flew down the road, it will stay with me forever
