Van internal bike holder/rack

Picking up a new VW Caddy tomorrow night due to a job change and am sadly excited as it will make transporting my bikes so much easier.
It will be a leased vehicle and is fully ply lined so I don't want to start making too many alternations or drilling too many holes. I had intended to buy the Saris Kool Rack to hold the bikes on the basis that it was fully removable but it is only suitable for beds between 50 and 75" and I think the Caddy is less than that between the rear wheel boxes which is where the rack would be fitted.
I have found an alternative rack which is the Delta Stable Loader and is suitable from 46" upwards which should fit the caddy, but it doesn't look the best designed.
Another (cheaper) option would be would buy a few of the Saris individual traps and bolt them to a piece of timber which sits into brackets and can be removed as and when but it will look a bit industrial.
Just wondered what others with similar vans used to secure their bikes. I know I could just use bungees etc but I prefer something as bit more secure.
Any advice/opinions welcome!

When I had to take my bike to Cornwall I used similar to a Saris Track clamp for the forks bolted to a 1" plank across the back of the van, low enough profile to stack other stuff on top of and hundreds of mounting options as I had the bike to one side of the van.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

when I had my van, (god i miss having a van!) it was just a (very cheap) case of bungee cords to hold the bikes in against the ply with drilled holes in the correct places, very simple and the bikes didn't move at all ....0

That's what I was thinking and works out a lot cheaper than the purpose made racks. Did you need to secure the plank to the van or was it secure enough?0

Bungee cords with cheap foam matting in between ? Keep the bikes secure and out of the way ?0

A front fork clamp fitted to a piece of wood across the back of the van is perfectly secure IME - no need for any other straps bungees.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
