Hi

I ride 18 miles a day commuting on mixture of mountain bike + Rohloff winter bike.

I now fancy a nice dry weather road bike.

Have narrowed down to:

Giant Defy 0 2013 - £950
Boardman Cyclocross - similar price
Specialised Roubaix 2013 - £1100

Think I favour either Defy or Roubaix - spec looks a lot better on Giant (eg. Shimano Ultegra) but realise that frame is central to a bike purchase.

Advice gratefully received !

  • The Defy and the Boardman will take proper racks and guards but I doubt the Roubaix would. To separate the Defy and the Boardman the Defy will take tyres up to 25mm with Giant specific Guards and the Boardman should take 32mm with SKS standard guards. Of course if you are happy with a backpack and raceblades then all 3 would fit the bill.
