Saddle advice

Hi,
I wondered if any of you members may have some advice on a comfortable saddle. I am an Olympic distance Triathlete who does Sportive's, but becomes saddle sore after approx 30 miles.
I ride a Cervelo S2, primarily for racing in Triathlon and a Specialized allez as a winter Trainer.
The saddles I am currently using are the Standard Specialized that came with the bike, 2011MY, and a Cube saddle from a 2011MY agree pro, on the Cervelo.
I am 6", 3" and very lean, think Bradley without the talent!
I have tried a Selle Italia Gel Flite, same issues, and currently have an ISM Adamo Prologue on trial. The ISM appears too wide for me, and despite several adjustments is by far the least comfortable I have tried, with pain on the sit bones starting at 5 miles.
Any ideas anyone?
In anticipation, and with thanks.

There is no easy answer. What suites one person may not suite someone else who looks similar.

Just keep trying and you'll get there. This may help...

What I've tended to do is just buy any colour/condition saddle I want to try (usually s'hand) - until you find one you like. And once you know "the one", get it in the colour you want :-)

  • This worked for me and I had a very similar problem, it is worth a try and if it doesn't work you have lost nothing. My problem has been around for about 4 years and I cycle every day doing about 200 miles a week and at weekends my longer rides were a pain in the butt.

Having set the saddle to be completely level and to the height recommended by most forums or websites I lowered the saddle by about 7mm and hey presto I was sitting in comfort. No more pain to my sit bones or my perineum.

Like I said it costs nothing to try it and maybe you need 5mm or 9 mm but just experiment a little.

Incidentally I currently own 3 different road bikes and 9 spare saddles (I kept trying different ones) and this method seems to have worked on all of them. It really is a relief!!!
  • Thanks Gentlemen, I have tried different heights and angles, and understand a lot of roadies have tried a lot of saddles.
Has anyone tried the new Selle Italia saddle fit system?
Also does anyone have recommendations' of a decent cycle store near to me in Banbury Oxon, preferably with a good saddle selection?
