These wheels on ebay seem to good to be true, has anyone taken the plunge on these. What I like is they provide a lot of information, which is reasuring.

Looking at the photos, the rear wheel is built the wrong way round. All rims are drilled to be fitted one way and not the opposite. When the valve hole is at the top, The first hole on the left of the valve will always have a spoke facing you... this is built the wrong way round. I have seen it before on a front wheel of a very similar set (in fact I would say the rims are the same)

If they seem too good to be true, they probably are. You'll likely pay import duty too. If you don't mind losing your money by all means go ahead, as if there's anything wrong with them you'll have no recourse.

Really you should do a Google search on this subject. there is a ton of forum posts from various locations that will either encourage or discourage you. If you are prepared to treat wheels as a disposable item then they probably represent good value but bear in mind any warranty will be harder to invoke given the requirement to ship the defective product back to China. There is a good thread on here recently about someone who had some Gigantex 50mm tubs built using Planet x rims and novatec hubs. I think having read that you probably then need to have a very strong reason to buy from China - you may save £100 but chances are you are buying an inferior rim with less build quality.

check out threads on Roadbikereview, weightweenies for thoughts on Chinese wheels.

    Nice bit of scaremongering there.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
