Hi,
I just lookng at extending my cycling kit as the weather will start to change soon and there is some decent reductions on last years kit at the moment.
But I struggling to work out what I should be buying.
Current kit consists of 2 x summer jerseys, bib shorts, bib tights and a stuff away light rain jacket.
What should I be looking at getting? Do I just need a decent cold weather rain and wind proof jacket?

Layers.
A gilet is a great bit of kit along with arm warmers, leg warmers and skull cap.
Turns your summer gear to autumn/winter (ish), especially if you then add the rain jacket.
Full on winter then a long sleeved soft shell (e.g. Gore Phantom) is great.Yellow is the new Black.0 -
I agree with smidsy. Winter gloves, a Buff round your neck and chin and some overshoes could be added for colder weather. I find bib tights too warm unless it's below 5C.0

Something to cover your ears. A headband if, like me, a skullcap just leads to your head getting sweaty0

+1. Overshoes are handy and belgian booties are also worth it, for when full on overshoes may be a little overkill.
A Neck tube or buff is handy too, IME - you can get a merino one from Amazon for less than £15.
Prendas are worth checking for arm/leg warmers and belgian booties. They do deals on multibuys too.
Cold hands can spoil a ride so investing in some gloves is a good idea. I'm really happy with the PX Winter gloves, for £5 they are probably the best cycling bargain I've had and better than gloves I've paid £35 for. I also use some Assos rain gloves (neoprene) for really wet rides. No matter what the marketing tells you, no glove is waterproof so you might as well just let your hands get wet and stay warm. I think Endura sell the same gloves for a bit less money.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
Thanks all for the replies.
Now I have just decide what to buy :-)
I have a buff already as when I start back in January my chest was bad for a few days after riding without it.
I had looked at the Gore phantom 2.0 jacket before and it seems quite a decent jacket.
One thing my clothing must be is bright, having been knocked off I intend to do as much as possible to be seen.0 -
I got a Hi Viz Mavic H20 Jacket - great for winter and brighter than the sun. Lusso Max Repel thermal tights are great when its really cold. Decent merino socks like the pearlizumi thermal ones help. Decent winter gloves - Gore? Planet x is a good option for clothing too in terms of value.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
