If group set is a big thing for you have you considered Planet X?

I don't think Ultegra over 105 is enough to make the decision. IMO 105 is very good. Can you try either before buying?0

You don't need to "find out". You can clearly see the cable running externally on the Giant website.Internal cabling comes with the Advanced and SL Advanced frames if I am not mistaken.
I don't really see the benefit of internal cabling, it looks nice but is a PITA when it needs chaging or there is a problem. My mate found out the hard way when he had an internal cable issue on his Defy Adanced 2. Eventually got replaced under warranty but it cost him time and a lot of grief. TCR is lovely and would be more forgiving than the Foil. Also don't see the point of aero frames? Why is the aero "improved". The TCR is one of th emost innovatie frames and revolutionised how frames are built. Don't under estimate it because it;s not "aero"
Another friend of mine had a Foil 20 and has hast just sold it. His comment was that the position was too aggressive and it was an all or nothing type bike (his words, not mine). He wishes he had gone for the CR1 instead. Again, aero looks cool but is it right for your riding style?
I would advise trying both bikes. If you can't try them then walk away. The frame and geometry and how it works for you is far more important than the groupset.
My money would be on the TCR by the way. Bargain for £15000 -
BTW, Planet X's Pro carbon is a good match for an early TCR frame. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. My next bike will be a PX Pro Carbon when they bring out the Ultegra version. If I had the extra £500 I would probably stump up for that TCR though.0

Good luck. Also bear in mind that Giant manufacture frames on behalf of Scott. Scott specify lay-ups, design etc but the manufacturing process happens in the same factory in Taiwan. Both good bikes, it just depends on what suits you best. Also have a look at the Defy, slightly less aggressive geo than the TCR but still plenty quick enough.0

If you check the Planet X web site I think PX Pro Carbon Ultegra is on at £999, bargain IMO.0

Yep, got my eye on that one. Trying to convince the Mrs I need to place a pre-order as they will fly out. How do you get on with yours?0

Great, mine has Rival fitted no problems apart from a rear wheel truing this week after a year on crap roads. Very responsive and somewhat lighter (for the hilly bits) after a few upgrades.0

Cool. Looking forward to getting one soon. Was torn between the Pro Carbon and RT-58 but the extra cost and questionable style differences from the original version has made my mind upMy only (slight) concern is the change in position from my Defy which is relatively upright. I do have a point of reference in that I ride a Cotic Roadrat as a commuter and I find it's compact geometry to be more comfortable despite the position being lower. The Defy gives me neck ache.

There's only one thing that matters. How do they ride?
One of the criticisms of many aero frames is that they trade off something to get aero. Some have had poor front end stiffness, many of them are harsh rides etc. The Foil is probably very good but I wouldn't buy an aero bike without riding it first.0 -
FYI, just had a pre sale preview email from Evans, I've had a look and did a filter search, there are 22 carbon bikes under £1500 in the sale including a very nice Trek Madone 3.5 with a 105/Ultegra mix, worth a look, sale starts on Saturday. Although, being a bit biased, I'd go with the Merckx EMX-1 down 30% from £2k to £1.4k.Eddy Merckx EMX-3
Dolan L'Etape
Cougar Zero Uno
Genesis Core 50
Planet X TOR0 -
Wiggle have a Mekk Poggia with Dura Ace at £ 1500 ish. Not sure on sizes available.
Edit:- just checked 48cm only.0
