I have done some research and it suggests this is not a good way to go, 6700 have a different pull ratio than 6600 therefore your should not use 6700 calipers with 6600 shifters.
What is the pull difference and essentially should you not mix them in this way????

A friend has recently bought some 6700 calipers and is using them with some 9 speed Ultegra shifter, he has said the braking is much better than his 105 calipers (5600 i think). Why are they better when Shimano suggest not doing this?

Also would the 6700 be better than 6600 SL calipers when using 6600 SL shifters.

Thanks
D

6700 has a shorter cable-pull ratio so I would only use them with 6700/6800/7900/9000 calipers.

They work fine. I've used SRAM with 7800 and they have a different pull ratio.

That pull ratio is much closer. Keep in mind that TRP brought out a special series of brakes to match the 6700/7900 pull-ratio.

I've just been using Ultegra 6800 calipers with 7800 shifters and I didn't notice any difference, when I put the 7900 shifters on I'll see if there is a noticeable difference because the pull ratios on the shifters are different.

When did you get 6800? They've only been out a couple weeks...

I've just ordered some 6800 callipers from Merlin to use with 5700 levers. Hope it works.

Last week Bike-discount-de, they were available on the 17th and they seem to be available at Merlin now and with free PnP so they work out £1 cheaper.

Didn't think people would be so quick to jump on them.
