Hi Guys/Gals
I am currently looking to to treat myself to a new bike, currently ride a Cube Agree GTC which i love and will be keeping as my every day bike.
My budget is 5.5K, and giving serious consideration to this https://www.canyon.com/_en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3097
reviews have been awesome, any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards
Graham

Perfect for the Sportive season, those wheels are awesome.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I would buy one of those.0

Thats what I'm thinking guys, i know it's a hell of a lot of money but you must agree its a hell of a lot of bike. I have looked at the usual suspects Pinarello, Spesh, Cannondale but they for me come clon't close to the Canyon.
Just a bit worried about ordering without a test ride, as Canyon only do online sales so cant ride it before buying it. Although their return/refund policy is excellent.Cube Agree GTC0 -

I would buy one but with mechanical DA. I wasn't as flush as you Jezz
They are a great bike and mine fits like a glove but that might not be the same for you.
I think you can hire one in Majorca? If so it might be worth popping over there for the weekend and giving one a try?"You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
Wyndymilla?Life isnt like a box of chocolates, its like a bag of pic n mix.0

This. You'll get it months before the Canyon, it will be just as light, and you can have any damn colour or design you want."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -

That was then and this is now."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
I think orders placed now are pretty much OK, but some size/chainset combinations are sold out. Generally if you want a smallish frame with compact you're going to struggle for the team.0

Except now they'll be starting to transition into 2014 frames...
Regardless, there's nothing inspiring or remotely interesting about Canyon. If you want one then fine, but for that kind of coin wouldn't you have something a bit special?English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0 -
Not sure the SLX frame is going to change, they seem to keep the same frame for 2-3 years, they may add the disc version and a couple of Ultegra 6800 versions for 2014.
The Aeroad is due an revamp.0 -
I have just been lucky enough to be able to treat myself to a new bike. I think with your budget whatever you buy will be a pretty good bike. I looked at quite a few different makes, i was not keen to part with my cash without being able to test ride. In the end i narrowed my choice down to Bianchi oltre and a look 695. I test rode both and could not fault either, they were both fantastic rides. in the end i went for the 695 and just love it. To me it looks fantastic and is the best bike i have ever ridden. I would recommend both bikes to you, well worth a test ride.0

That is your opinion. The Windymilla thing isn't really doing it for me. It is great that we have so much choice so that we can all find something we like"You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
Without passing judgement on any of the bikes mentioned I don't think I would blow £5.5k on a bike I would have to order online and without trying out first. I would go and try some serious frames out first buy one and then build it to a very individual spec. But that is just my opinion and I don't have £5.5k to spend.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

No I couldn't spend five and a half without a test ride first. Lot of money to get it wrong imo.0

2nd hand SL4 Sworks, and blow the rest on a luxury fortnight in the Alps/Pyrenees.0

For £5.5K I would want something special and unique, afraid the Canyon doesn't do it for me, it would have to have Campag Record too0

Seems a lot to spend on an off the peg product. My Look cost £3.5k. A properly hand made frame, special order, all components selected by myself with guidance from the shop (Epic Cycles) plus full fitting and test rides of bikes built up to my fit. Plus then, on the big day, going to see it all being built up and getting various bits of advice from the chap who built it.
I think I enjoyed that experience more than I would have had I gone for the Canyon 'choose your payment method' approach followed by a wait for the postman. And I know my bike is unique in the world.Faster than a tent.......0 -

They don't – they went bust.
OP could build up a Legend HT5.7 or an HT7.5 within his budget. Hand made, custom made-to-measure Italian carbon built by a master.

Tasteful Grill.
I'm glad you took all of that "guns this, guns that" stuff out of your sig, was making me nauseous every time I saw it.
You're a great poster though so don't take that the wrong way!0 -
For that money .......... custom fitted hand made frame with the joy of building your own spec.0
