First Road Bike - Help

Hi
I currently have an old mountain bike and am looking to get an entry level road bike to commute to work a couple of times per week (15 mile round trip) and to do one longer ride once per week. I have commuted for a few years on the mountain bike but the lack of speed is starting to get frustrating therefore I thought a road bike would be a good choice!
I had made my mid up on the Carrera Virtuoso which I can get from Halfords for £300 (with work discounts).
However, I have since come across the MafiaBike TR6 Interceptor which I can get for £175.

Does anyone own one of these, have any experience of the bike or know if it is any good? I know the Carrera is probably a better bike - but is it really £120 better then this? As I say I am only looking to do commuting and the occasional longer ride.
Any help/advice is appreciated!

The downtube retro shifters and 7-speed cassette would put me right off. I'm not sure if you can really get a decent quality machine for that sort of money, new; something that would be nice to ride, dependable and keep you safe.0

If you want to spend under 500 you'll get far better value with a second hand bike. A lot of folk get bikes on the cycle to work scheme with good intentions then hardly use them.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

How good do you expect it to be at that price ? Do you want a bike or a lump of metal ?Smarter than the average bear.0
