Hi, I am thinking about building up a new best bike based on a new custom oversize Rourke 853 frame and CF Forks (colour scheme will be midnight blue and silver).

Been thinking of the spec and wondered what you all thought bearing in mind I am not looking to create an "old fashioned" steel bike i.e. brooks saddle jobbie with tan bar tape etc:

Group set - Sram Force
Wheels - Use my Ksyrium Elites or get Ugo to build some Architypes on Ultregra Hubs
Tyres - Contis or Rubino Pros
Bars - 3T Ergonova Alu
Stem and Seatpost - 3T ARX Alu Black/White maybe Black Series
Saddle - San Marco Regale Black/White not carbon rails

Comments please? Budget about £2500 tops and will be buying the parts when I see any deals - hoping for the frame for my 40th in March next year :(

If you want retro look, look at polished alloy bars, stem, seatpost and a Campagnolo Athena groupset
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    This.

Deda and ritchey both do polished finishing kit although the deda is a bit darker, more of a gunmetal.

Campagnolo Athena looks fantastic. In fact, IMO the best looking group set out there.

    +1

And don't forget handbuilt wheels on Ambrosio dark anodised rims, with gum wall tyres

Like the gum wall tyres idea but regards the other comments and as per the thread I dont want a retro bike. What I want is a new meets old kind of bike
