Probably the easiest question, which tyre levers for a road bike?

Well for Mavic Aksium wheels and tyres, my park tools mtb ones are far too chunky and it took ages to get under the rim, after some pulling at the tyre etc...

Im sure when i fitted the tyre back on its a little warped now.

Any plastic ones will do mate-they normally come with puncture repair kits.

No idea if these are any good, I was placing an order already so just added these to it:

Park Tools also do slimmer ones for road bikes which I also have, they don't seem really any better than any other brand.

Park tools are fine, you may just need more practice as some tyres can be difficult to get on.

You don't use tyre levers to get tyres on.

Find a set of the big yellow Pedros ones. They look like something from the Early Learning Centre but they are really solid and do exactly what you need them to.

    My preferred model:

Once or twice, I expected them to break, but they never did. Seems that they are fine for 22 mm racing tyres as well as for 54 mm MTB tyres.

I like the park ones, although I snapped two putting SMPs on a Brompton. Best try leaver I have is the handle of a silver fork from the inherited cutlery in the sideboard. Only gets used when the Mrs is out or has gone to bed.

Having snapped some on a trickier pair of wheels, I bought Spesh ones which are reinforced and provide me with much more confidence than the Park Tools ones.

I'm quite happy with the metal ones my Dad gave me in 1992, that he'd had since I don't know when. They've never failed to get a tyre off, and I doubt they'll snap. Unlike the plastic ones I tried once, they snapped first time.

With some practise you wont need tyre levers to get a tyre off and definitely not to put one one.

I can even put marathons on and off with out them now. 8)
