I use my Garmin infrequently but have just upgraded the firmware.
Went for a ride. Switched on and all that came up on screen was the following:
Garmin
Working (which it patently wasn't)
. . .

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks

My guess is that you didn't leave the Garmin for long enough when you did the update to let the update install fully.
    More problems but still living....

    To perform the master reset:

    Power device off
Press and hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Power device on while still holding both buttons
Continue holding buttons when the Garmin "splash" screen appears
Release buttons when Garmin "splash" screen disappears

always pays to check if the update is needed - IIRC the last one was to do with fonts on certain screen - hardly groundbreaking.

Found a re-set instruction and I now have screens. Not the ones I had before, so presumably the memory's been cleared.
I have yet to test it on the road.
But thanks for your help, one and all.

i have noticed recently my edge 500 takes ages to find satellites and drops signal quite frequently on rides. i never had any issues before but these started a month or two back.

anyone else having problems with theirs?

  • My Edge 800 started freezing after I downloaded the latest update. Tried master reset to no avail so had to get replacement unit from Garmin.

That's odd as the new update 2.50 was based on better sat comms.

I've updated last night so ill let you know how I get on in 100k's time :)

Someone said on a different thread that a comm sat was down and causing problems. And it's one that we would lock onto in this part of the planet. So may not be garmins fault ...

I used it yesterday and it worked perfect, in fact it seemed to work better than before as I had no dropouts and at least 7 sat links all the time. Considering the fix was mainly to do with sat comms it seems to be a good move.

I work in KM so tend to comment in KM too.
I am sure the update is for all edge range.
