Race bike, limited flexibity

I am looking for a new bike.
I ride club TTs with tri bars, club runs and sportives.
Several years ago I damaged my back and have limited movement.
I am looking for a bike to thrash yet need to be comfortable.
Top tubes generally appear too long.
I have tried The Trek Madone and it fits well.
Are there any others bikes similar to the Madone that I should try?
My budget is £1200.
I am also keen to consider buying a frame to build a bike to my own specification.
What might you suggest?

It's in situations like this that a bike fit is worthwhile - typically, a dealer should be prepared to give you a refund for the cost of the bike fit if you buy a bike or a frame. Accommodating a custom-frame bike in your budget will be very tough as you'll be looking at £500-600 plus for the likes of a steel frame - so probably best to find a stock frame that you can get comfortable width.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks, what frames might I consider.
Met a few fitters and would only visit one if I could get unbiased information.0 -
That depends on what your fitter says I think ?0

Thanks Cougie.
What ever they need to shift I guess:)0 -
You'll also need to decide your priority - a TT set-up is very different from one for sportives and it's tricky to meet both requirements without compromises. Without seeing you a bike, it's impossible to make recommendations.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
