Carrera Crossfire 2 or Carrera Subway

Ok im a bit new to all of this so go easy on me

My work place is doing the cycle to work scheme which i'm going to sign up for, i have narrowed it down to 2 bikes the Carrera Crossfire 2 & Carrera Subway both are £299.99 at Halfords and i'm not sure which one to go for so any advice would be greatly received i'm leaning more to the crossfire at the moment but still haven't made my mind up

I got my first bike since childhood five years back on C2W and my work tied me to Halfords as well. I had exactly the same choice but the guy in the shop said Crossfire as I wanted it for road riding not trails or paths. I reckon that was good advice - both are hybrid but as I understand it the Crossifre is more on the road side and Subway more on MTB side of the hybrid spectrum.

I have to say for a cheap bike it was fine - I still ride it when I go out with the kids. Best thing I did though after about six months was change the saddle - the one mine came with was a sofa!!
They are both cheap bikes with cheap components - now I am utterly hooked on cycling I wish I have gone straight for something better but as a first bike to use on roads I was happy with my Crossfire. I also learned how to maintain a bike using it and I am glad I did that with cheap components too!
