Saw this and wondered if anyone has any experience. Customer reviews seem to be favourable.
At £99.95 it looks like decent value but .................... comments?

I have one of those stands, really stable, strong, lightweight folds away, quick release to adjust height, does what it's supposed to, no problems, thoroughly recommend it. :D

Don't know anything about this particular toolkit, but these kind of tools will be OK for occasional use, not high quality, bit soft, for example a lot of effort on the pedal spanners will mark the tools not the pedals. You might need to top up this tool kit with a few higher quality tools as and when you discover you need them. You will need a decent pair of cable cutters.

Thanks' for that. Just found it for £62.95 without the tools. As said it gets very positive reviews on their site (Merlin Cycles). Might go for the stand on it's own without the tools.

    Bit cheaper from Ribble

That's where mine came from a couple of years ago. Much beefier than the photos suggest

Just a thought. Is it ok/safe to use this on a carbon seat post? Would there be any issues?

Good question - and one that I would like to know too. :)

If in doubt use it on the frame. Bear in mind though that your seatpost supports your weight so it should be able to support the bike weight when in a stand

I 'thought' you were meant to pop an aluminium seatpost in when you wanted to clamp in a workstand..?

That's pretty cheap, not sure how strong it is though

The seat post supports your weight along its length - a clamp delivers the force around its middle - completely different loading and stress. The post is designed to take load along the length but not clamping force - nor is the frame.

Use a cheap alu post for clamping or a bit of pipe the correct diameter.

I just bought one of these second hand at the beginning of the week and already used it twice. it's a great stand in my opinion.

Thanks' for the responses guys. Appreciated.
The carbon seat post question came about as an afterthought but clearly is an issue. Will need to check now if the jaws on the clamp will accommodate the diameter of my frame and not scratch or damage it before committing myself to buying. Would be a bit of a faff changing the post each time.

Not as much faff as swapping all the components to a new frame because you've crushed the old one. I just bought an alloy post for £15 from Ribble for my Scott CR1-SL build.

A fair if not a bit harsh comment lol. Given that I was first considering mounting via the frame THEN considering the ali seat post option.

That did come across as a bit abrupt. I just meant that having spent £500 on one of the bargain frames from Westbrooks, I think £15 is a small price to pay to ensure that I don't squash the thing in the workstand.

With my alloy framed bike I routinely clamp it (carefully) by the thicker walled part of the top tube.

i've got that stand and clamp it to my rather pricey canyon. i don't clamp it overly tight so there's not an issue.

Clamp it where exactly? Carbon seat post? Or frame?

Coming soon from Aldi is the stand I use:

Last time it was £30, which is a bit of a bargain!

Whenever I hit Aldi the bargains are already all gone lol. Yes I do get there early but I think some must camp overnight in the car park!

Having seen the reviews here and elsewhere I have ordered this now and awaiting delivery.

I had the aldi one but with 4 legs it takes up quite a bit of room in the garage. Thinking of getting a ribble one....
