Hi guys,
I've just got into my road biking and a few months ago i purchased a new Wilier La Triestina 105 2012 Road Bike. The bike came with Shimano R500's and standard road tyres. I was thinking of upgrading the tyres and wheels and when i did the London to Brighton bike ride this weekend and someone fell onto my back wheel while climbing a hill, which cracked the rim, my mind was made up for me.
I'm thinking that a budget of around £200-£250 will cover two half decent tyres and wheels?
I tend to use EvansCycles and Wiggle for my biking needs.
Cheers,
Matt

In that budget and assuming you want factory wheels rather than hand builts, I'd be looking at something like a Fulcrum Quattro or Shimano Ultegra 6700. Pro Lite Bracciano's might be ok if you're a light rider. Wiggle and Evan's aren't usually the best place/price for wheels normally, but have a look anyway. Merlin Cycles is usually pretty good.
Don't automatically rule out hand built wheels though. You will get a better wheel for your money but you'd need to talk to someone to get an idea of what is suitable for your weight and style or riding etc and then work out what components you'll need.0
