Have been offered one of these, in A1 condition, hardly used, only a few months old etc for £100.

A good buy? Worth it? Or stay away?
Comments (sensible  ) please.

I have a similar model to that one (except mine doesn't include a remote resistance lever). I bought it second hand from a friend and it's great for what I want. The fact that I don't shred tyres / need a spare tyre or spare wheel is fantastic - it's ready to go in a couple of minutes. Additionally it's something you could take to races if you wished and use with carbon rims for a warm up and not worry about shredding a tubular tyre - although I haven't done this myself. I bought it second hand from a teammate who's a bigger guy and used to putting out a lot of watts, he said it was fine but preferred a different trainer for the extreme intervals. For a skinny 67kg person like me it's fine.

    Thanks'.
Does it do any damage to the rim at all. i.e. rub/mark the paintwork/colouring in use? The wheels on my Boardman are black Ritchie Pro Disc. That, I think, is my main concern.

I use it for my road bike (Planet X model B training wheels), haven't noticed any marks on them. If you were concerned I guess you could clean the rollers with cloth before every ride.

I will have to assume this isn't a well supported make of turbo trainer then lol.

Well what are you planning to do with it? I've used it for Tabata intervals, Sufferfest vids etc and never had a problem. If you're a 90kg bruiser maybe look elsewhere otherwise what's the problem?

No problem DLH. Just surprised that you are the only person to respond. Given that it appears a lot of people have opinions on whatever question is posted I was perhaps expecting more. I do appreciate your input lol. :D

Not a 90KG bruiser lol. About 79KG atm but my 'fighting weight' is closer to 74/75KG so need to lose a bit ideally. Was intending to use it during the winter months to keeps the legs and cardio going as I am a bit of a fair weather wuss if I'm honest.

I think it'll be fine then. As I mentioned before the fact that you don't need a spare wheel /tyre for the trainer is really convenient. Of course if you can get it cheaper then that'll be even better!
