Rapha pro team mitts alternative.

Hi there.
I'm looking for some advice on buying a new pair of gloves/mitts. I currently have the white rapha pro teams mitts but they are starting to look a little worse for wear and I am in need of a replacement. Unfortunately rapha have stopped doing these, to my knowledge, so was wondering if anyone knew of any alternatives to these as they were a good, comfortable, lightweight pair of mitts.
Thanks for any help.
Harry.

There isn't one. Believe me I've tried to find an alternative that's as good :-( The Giro LX is close, with a nice pad and well constructed, but I didn't get on with the back in the end - it didn't feel tight enough.
There will be a new version out - the one that Sky are using with the small velcro strap - but when I asked Rapha at the start of the year when, they said they're still testing.
I've got a new pair of white Pro Teams that I'm going to break out soon. My current white and black pairs are starting to get pretty tired.0 -
I recommend the assos summer gloves, just got a replacement pair in white off the assos factory outlet site.0

The Grand Tour gloves are very good. I've used them for a couple of years now and for some long days in the saddle as well.
The Velcro-esque fastening is the only downside for me - it doesn't hold very well and the gloves flap open occasionally. I guess I've got used to it though.
The only other downside is the ridiculous tanning pattern you get with your knuckles having brown spots on them.0 -
And I suppose the price - £100 for a pair of mitts which usually last only a couple of seasons! Yikes!x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Can't comment on the longevity of the Pro Team Mitts, but the Grand Tour mitts seem to be lasting very well (and they get a lot of use in summer months) - getting better each season. Can't see me replacing them for a few years yet.0

The Specialized 1974 leather gloves are pretty nice if you want a full leather glove. Not as nice as the Rapha ones, but I would say decent value.0

Thanks for all the help and info guys.
Didnt realise there was such a big demand for them. It is very annoying as they were superb gloves, will just have to hold out for the new version then.0 -
i've got the pro mitts in black and white and have the same concern for when mine need replacing. the black still look good as new so hopefully will still be a while yet."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

I never mind paying for quality that will last. But I just had a look at the Grand Tour gloves, and yes they look lovely.
But no absorbent forehead/nose wiping pad on the thumb!! I don't think i could live without that.0 -

I remember watching the Milan - San Remo a couple of years ago, one rider never even wore mitts!!!!I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0 -
I really like the Giro LX short finger gloves, made from pittards leather. Bought a pair a few weeks back, lovely gloves that can be had for a bargain. Got mine for £33 from DotBike.
