Hi all,
Currently have Tiagra 9 speed shifters and cassette, is there any reason a set of 105 shifters wouldnt work with the 9speed cassette and chain?
Would it be a case of not using the extra gear in the shifters? Just for a month or so until a new cassette and chain arrives.
Thanks,

It will not work.
The amount of pull required is completely different for 9 and 10spd. It's difficult trying to explain why!0 -
For the sake of a month is it really worth the fu@k around? You will never get clean gears up and down the cassette. I would wait until you have everything and change it all at once.0

Never got round to trying it as I put some 9 speed downtube levers on instead. But as I understand it, you just need to put the cable the other side of the bolt on the read mech. Worth a try, if it doesn't work then just get a new cassette and chain.0 -
Probably doesn't help you but I have 10 speed campag shifters on my tourer with a 9 speed xt drivetrain0

Thanks,
Look here for a comparison of sprocket spacing between shimano 9 and 10 speed and any other cassettte you would care to mention.
