Trek Domane frameset

Does anyone know if the framesets are sold separately. I cant find them anywhere, I think the 6 series one might be available through some channels but its way above what I'd pay.

I've just about got over the aesthetics of the thing and am willing to accept that ride comfort might outweigh prettiness for me. But cant find the frame anywhere on its own. Are there plans to sell it as a standalone frame in the future?

The idea of stripping one down and selling all the components separately for what will be an inevitably sizable loss kills me a bit inside.

  • Have you considered buying a Frame that is available as a frame only?

Sound familiar, I've been researching this exact issue for some time as I'd wanted to swap my Madone frame for Domane.

Unfortunately it looks like only the 6 series is available frame only, as you'd imagine it's about £3,000 just for the frame, through Project One. I did ask my local Trek dealer and they confirmed this was the case, I'd thought they may have a way to obtain just a frame, but no.

I did consider buying a Domane 4.0 and stripping it down, but as you say that's an expensive way to do it just to get the frame.

In the end I've ordered a Scott CR1 Pro frame for £500 which has a lot of the road smoothing features of the Domane.

    It's a no-brainer really

Also keep in mind that if you are set on a Domane then the new models will be announced late July / early August, so you might want the new model or get a discount on the old.

Same here, looked into it and only the 6 is available currently. I'm hoping the 2014 range will include a 4 series frameset option (want it for the winter bike so no big hurry for me), I have a feeling I'll be disappointed but also a bit surprised Trek aren't catering for this demand. Given it's a unique frameset design you'd think they'd realise it might be popular as a frameset only, I can't believe the margins involved mean it's better to sell fewer complete bikes than lots of framesets (I doubt many people will be buying complete and stripping as the economics don't make sense in the same way they can do with Canyon).

Same here, wanted a Domane frame but couldn't afford the cost of the 6 series frame or the hassle of buying a lower spec and stripping it (wanted sram stuff on my bike). So after getting a text message last night from Interlink I have sat in all day waiting for the cr1 frame to be delivered only to find out @ 16.15 that it still hasn't been collected for delivery yet

Sure it will all be worth it when it arrives....

One other thing, had a (very short) test ride on a carbon Domane the other day and was underwhelmed, so maybe not the incredible breakthrough in comfort vs stiffness that were being told in the cycling press? I'd probably still have one if I could afford it though!
