Myself and a couple of friends participated in this event yesterday.

75 miles of glorious roads, quiet in the main with nice undulations. Helped by yesterdays perfect weather, complimented by well stocked feed stations exactly spaced, marshalled only when needed and topped by a really well stocked goody bag, this was the best event i have ever completed.

If this is a typical example of a Wiggle event then i can strongly recommed them to everyone.

The only downside was the sight of a rider being stabilized at the side of the road after an accident of some sort. He didnt look well so i do hope it looked worse than it was and he is recovering well today.

I just felt the need to post credit where its due :D

The 'Scramble' is a great route. Did it last year but couldn't make this one, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Have ridden many Wiggle/UK Cycling Event sportives, and have yet to experience a bad one. Always well organized, very professional etc. Did the 100-mile Surrey Hills sportive in April and posted on here how impressed I was with the overall experience, including motorcycle outriders at specific danger spots. Good on Wiggle for making the whole experience enjoyable and worthwhile.

  • Rode past this going the other way for about 10- miles, lots of very posh looking bikes... what else do you expect in Surrey!
  • I did the 75 mile route in 4 hours 34 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I used the garmin 'course' provided on UKCE which really helped me as I was riding alone. This was my first sportive and I can't wait for the next one.

I went with a mate who did the short route. He was expecting to finish a couple of hours before me, but he got lost and did an extra 16 miles before rejoining where he'd left off. I finished about 40 seconds behind him. He wasn't amused.

I also went past someone receiving medical attention on a dark double bend. I hope he's having a speedy recovery.
