I'm getting a new TT bike soon, do I buy the bike first and then get my LBS to fit me properly on it, or do they do this before hand, I am just under 5:10" so I am border line small or a medium frame on the bike I want.

A good LBS will meaure you up and suggest a certain size of the frame you're thinking about. If they stock that brand of course. Although some LBS outlets deal in literally any brand of bike. No frame is spot on without refinements for the reach or otherwise, so they will then make the frame fit you, if they're any good that is.

Only get the frame first if you are definite about which size you are.

I am getting my bike from Planet X was hoping to do a measure up in my lbs well a reputable one after I bought it, the sizing guide is small 5;5" to 5:9" medium is 5:10" to 6ft when I was measured I was 5ft 9.6"
  • Thinking about making a similar purchase in the future. If i did i would go to a planet x store and get a bike fit done there so i could walk away with whatever fitted. If possible it would be worth the journey for me.

I'm currently in Ireland but getting it shipped from the UK as saves me €260 for the same bike. I might chance the small frame

I'm 5'10 and can just fit a medium Stealth with the seatpost as far down as it will go (any further and the rough bit of the post will be too far down) and a short stem. Normal proportions - I wear trousers with a 32" inside leg. The small is probably a safer bet

Sweet thanks for the post ill go for the small so, did u find much of a speed increase with the bike? I'm a bit nervous about the 80mm wheel depth with the wind

Yes, about 1mph over a road bike with clip ons. You'll probably want to swap in a shallower front on more windy days but 80mm will be no problem out back in any conditions. Lovely bikes and great value. You'll love it :D
