Ispec XT Brakes/Shifter Problem

I have tried to fit these two together using the online manual, can someone please explain how to attach the gear shifters to the lever as I can't get it to fit correctly. There doesn't seem to be a hook for the shifter to attach to the lever.
I think i have the new 2014 lever that isn't compatible with the Shifters?

    I can't really speak from experience because I'm just looking at buying a set of XT I-spec shifters and SLX brakes and noticed that for the brakes there were two options on one of the German sites. They had a I-spec and a I-spec-B version. The text implied you needed the B version but don't hold me to that.

    Yep you have b version brakes and 'a' version levers.

    + some other bikes.

    Yeah I thought so thanks, ordered some new XT shifters now with bar mounts.

    Before I make the same mistake, is the B version the newer version or does something else define A from B, eg. SLX is A type and XT/XTR is B type?

    I'm planning on buying SLX Brakes with XT i-spec shifters but I've only seen the type specified for shifters and not the brakes on the DE web sites I've looked at. I'm hoping that if both are 2013 models then it should be fine.

    Take a look at the brake part number. B types end in -B
    A Flock of Birds
    + some other bikes.
