i'm going to the pyrenees in a couple of weeks and unfortunately due to smashing up my canyon ultimate at weekend will be on my caad5 with campag groupset and a double chainring. i therefore want a nice big cassette and have seen a 13-29 and 12-30.

will i need a long cage derailleur for these? to be honest i'm not sure what i've got at the minute as i'm not at home but i'd guess its just standard.

this question comes up quite a lot. The answer also varies dependent on the age of your rear mech. there was a post a few weeks ago where a Campagnolo expert gave a good explaination of what is possible. You could search for it. In my experience , I just fitted a 13-29 to my Veloce spec bike. The rear mech is short cage but from 2011 I think. I also fitted a new chain and sized accordingly. It works fine, you do need to fiddle a little bit with the b-tension screw and my chain starts to rub on the bottom of the lower jockey wheel guide if you try and run it in 34-14/13 but as I never really use that combination then its not an issue.

In fairness I havent used the 29 tooth much but I do find the 26 quite useful vs the previous 25 max.
